Safe operation of small excavators - compliance with rules and regulations
There is a jargon in our engineering work: "All safety accidents have one reason: non-compliance with rules and regulations", so what rules and regulations do we have for driving excavators? How to avoid excavator accidents as much as possible, and how to reduce excavator failures How about prolonging the life of the excavator? The editor sorted out some common mistakes in safe operation, and some precautions, and shared them with you.
1. Remember to lock the door, do not hold the door frame
There are many masters who are used to not locking the door when driving the excavator (the door of the excavator cab has a lock when it is closed, and there is a lock when it is opened), and they are used to holding the door frame. When the excavator is going downhill or getting off the trailer, many drivers will habitually push the left hand on the front windshield or door frame, and operate the excavator with the right hand. At this time, if the door is open and not locked, due to the forward tilt of the fuselage, the door will be closed quickly due to gravity, usually with a lot of force. If you put your hand on the door frame, you will be caught. Very serious consequences.
So when working with an excavator, the doors must be locked no matter whether the doors are open or closed. The driver should try not to hold the door frame with his hands.
2. Matters needing attention when walking
Many novices or apprentices will raise the boom of the excavator to the highest level, fully open the stick, and the bucket will face the sky in order to have a better view. Actually walking like this is very dangerous, because the working device is held high, so the center of gravity is high, and the vehicle will overturn if the ground is slightly uneven.
3. Pay attention to blind spots
The cab of the excavator is on the left, and the view is blocked by the arm in the middle, so there is a large blind spot on the right, especially the rear on the right. Many excavator accidents are due to the rotation of the right side of the tail, causing people to be injured or killed! Therefore, when working in a site that is not very wide, the excavator should be kept to the left as much as possible to leave more space on the right side.
In addition, many people don’t pay much attention to the rearview mirror of the excavator. The rearview mirror is a very fragile thing on the excavator, and it is often knocked off during work or transportation. Many drivers will think that they should just touch it. , Anyway, it is not important, so I did not replace it with a new rearview mirror in time. In fact, the rearview mirror is very important on the excavator, especially the one on the right side. Accidents often occur due to poor safety awareness!
